Nancy Berkan, fine artist, graphite drawing, superrealism

Nancy has been recognized as a fine artist of the highest calibre.  She has worked in oil, watercolor, gouache, conte, graphite and pastel.  With the latter, Nancy has applied the medium in the technique used by Degas and other masters, using water to engage the material in painterly fashion.

Nancy's teachers have included Michael Mazur, Aubrey Schwartz, Benny Anderson, Michael Grippe and Linda Sokolowski.  There have been private and public showings;  venues include Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, Thayer Academy, Hilles Library at Radcliffe, Harpur College.

Images here are a small sampling of a far larger corpus; much more will soon be added.    Nancy currently works mostly on paper, and at a small, intimate scale, She also has works on canvas and, as well, very large scale drawings. Limited edition prints, many further worked in graphite and pastel, are available from the artist.

Of late Nancy has been crafting jewelry amd wearable art of upcycled materials. These can be viewed at  zebraonedesigns.com (under revision presently).  You can learn of her clinical work at  sandtrayworks.yolasite.com.

On a selective basis, Nancy is available for commissioned portraits;  these generally are of graphite, dry/ wet pastel, or conte on paper.
